Study Spaces at McMaster Libraries are divided into Group Study, Quiet Study, and Silent Study.

Quiet Study spaces allow low volume conversation and cell phones on vibrate, while Silent Study spaces forbid talking, whispering, or audible noise from headphones; cell phones must be set to silent and food is allowed but should create no noise.

148 individual study carrels for Silent Study can be found on the Lower Level of Thode Library. The 6th floor of Mills Library as well as the 1st floor Connections Centre are also designated as Silent Study.

Please visit the Study Spaces page for a complete list of Group and Quiet Study spaces.

If someone is disturbing a Quiet or Silent Study area please email your concern to quiet@mcmaster.ca and a member of Library Staff will address the issue.
